Discover the Percée lakes near our campsite

Discover Canadian landscapes in Lorraine! During your stay at the Domaine des Bans campsite, you’ll be amazed by the Percée lakes, a huge expanse of water nicknamed “Little Canada Lorraine”. This idyllic setting is ideal for relaxing and enjoying a wide range of family activities.

Discover Lac de Percée and its activities

Lac de Percée is one of Lorraine’s largest man-made lakes, measuring 304 m² and stretching 32 km in circumference. Its unusual maple leaf shape and the surrounding vegetation, mostly fir trees, have earned it the nickname ” Little Canada Lorraine“.

This peaceful setting is designed to delight visitors. In fact, the lake can be circumnavigated by foot and mountain bike . You can also explore its vastness by canoe, paddle or kayak. Thrill-seekers can take a zip-line or bungee jump to see the site from above. Lac de Percée also attracts fishing enthusiasts with its rich waters. Pike, perch, roach and carp are just some of the fish species found in the lake.

Below Lac de Percée is another body of water, Lac de la Plaine , covering 36 hectares. Its silvery waters and surrounding greenery invite you to relax and enjoy family activities. The “Pôle Sport Nature” leisure center on the shores of the lake offers a wide range of water and land-based activities: cycling, pedal go-karts, scootering, archery, pedal boats, towed buoys, canoeing, etc. The list is too long to name them all!

What’s there to do with the whole family around the Percée lakes?

The Lacs de Percée site is a delight for nature lovers and hikers. For example, the 2 lakes circuit starting from the parking lot at the Pierre Percée dam (6 km/350 m ascent) offers a beautiful view of the lake and dam.

And for a safe, family-friendly walk, take the Plaine valley greenway. This 27 km trail is dedicated to non-motorized uses (walking, cycling, scootering). The route winds along the valley floor, skirting the River Plaine and passing through 9 villages. The route is dotted with rest areas for picnics and relaxation. The route takes you past the Ferme de la Planée, a family farm where the art of plants goes hand in hand with ecology. Here you can discover some sixty varieties of aromatic and medicinal plants.

Finally, to better understand the impact of the 1st World War on the Vosges department, don’t hesitate to visit the information and documentation center on the Great War 14-18 at La Pierre Percée. Collections of military artefacts, temporary and permanent exhibitions and children’s workshops are presented to visitors by enthusiastic volunteers.
